Getting Set Up Right
This video walks you through setting up your chainsaw bar with the guides that came with your jig.
Adding the guides to your chainsaw bar isn’t tough, there’s a few important things to keep in mind when drilling the holes:
1.) Use a Straight Edge. Because every bar has a curve to it, include the chain and measure up from a straight edge to avoid over-cutting with the jig. This will give you a tight joint.
2.) Measure. 1st hole: 1.5″ inches from bucking dogs and 1.5″ in from a straight edge beneath the bar and chain. 2nd hole: measure the distance from the first hole, center to center according to the width of log for the jig you are using. (See Chart Below) and 1.5″ in from the straight edge.
3.) Center Punch. Mark your spot and keep the bit from wandering.
4.) Drill Slow! The hardened steel of the bar will break bits if drilled at normal speed. Take it slow and you’ll get through it just fine.
Tension Springs
The springs on the jig are designed to hold the jig open as it slides onto the timber, eliminating unnecessary fuss and frustration.
